Day 15 ❍ From Chaos to Clarity
Well, this is a first as a topic for cleansing, but it feels both timely and prescient to address the Toxin of Chaos so we can find more freedom within our bodies and minds.
We’re living in a time of enormous upheaval and polarization. Chaos seems to greet us everywhere we turn—on our screens, in our politics, on the road, and even in the endless busyness of our days. It’s a lot.
Here’s the tricky thing about chaos: it’s strangely alluring. It can sweep us away to the point of addiction, keeping us hooked on the next piece of news or drama. When chaos takes hold, it can rattle the throat chakra—the center of our voice and expression.
The throat chakra is where we articulate our truths, find clarity, and express our point of view. When balanced, it animates in a way that fosters connection and understanding. But when disrupted, it can swing to extremes—either self-righteousness on one side or apathy, to the point of feeling mute, on the other. The insidious nature of chaos is that it desperately craves our attention and will do anything to capture it. This pull accumulates as energy within us. Sometimes, what our body truly needs is a compassionate pause to recognize: “I’m holding a lot right now.”
So today, let’s explore...
A Powerful Reframe
What if chaos is a wake-up call?
Instead of being swept away by it, we can pause and ask ourselves:
What is my relationship to the chaos around me?
What is my point of view?
How can I use my voice with clarity and intention?
What does my body need to handle what I’m holding or interacting with?
“No on can hurt you more than an unwise thought. No one can help you more than a wise thought. ”
Practicing Wise Speech
One way to bring balance to our voice is through practicing Wise Speech, a principle from Buddhist teachings. Our speech can bring comfort and it can start wars. Before speaking, ask yourself these questions:
Is it true? Is it really true?
Is it to their benefit?
Is it not harsh/of kind intent
Does it help us to connect?
Do I need to say this now?
It’s not just about what we say, but how we say it. And more than that, it’s about the intention behind our words. We might deliver something in a polished way, but if our intention isn’t clear or kind, the other person can feel it.
“We can become the medicine.
Others will be cruel, we will be kind... thus we should incline the heart. ”
ACTIONS
Notice your relationship to chaos. Is it pulling you in? Is it almost addictive? How does it show up in your body and mind?
Tune into your throat chakra. What does your voice feel like today—balanced, strained, muted?
Tune into your body. Recognize if you are holding a lot right now. Be with that acknowlegement and breathe.
Experiment with Wise Speech. Use the questions above to guide your conversations, whether with others or with yourself.
JOURNAL
Ask your voice what it wants to say, then write for 10 minutes without editing. Let it all out.
Let’s move from chaos to clarity—together.
