Day 18 | Love Your Skin

The largest organ in our body is the skin, a vital part of a naturally occurring, regenerative process facilitated by our body's incredible intelligence. As an adult, undergoes a shedding and replacement cycle every 28 to 30 days.  Although this process may take longer as we age, the renewal of our skin remains a continuous and essential aspect of our body's experience.

There are various ways we can support this transformative journey to new skin. Incorporating a quality salt scrub into our routine serves as a meaningful ritual for shedding old skin. Dry brushing is another effective method, helping to clear away dead skin cells from the surface, enhancing the skin's ability to breathe and expel toxins through the pores. Getting sunshine on our skin for about 15 minutes in the morning provides an excellent source of vitamin D (remember to use SPF afterward for skin protection). If you spend extended periods driving, consider wearing long sleeves and covering your neck/chest to shield your skin.

Transitioning to the subtle body, today, we explore shedding the skin in a more energetic way.  We align to a process of emergence.  And it goes like this.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Take a moment to meditate on your body's skin. Through a gentle and compassionate lens, visualize the release of dead skin cells. Consider if any of these cells carry something you are ready to shed. You can incorporate this practice while dry brushing, using a salt scrub, or during a 'shower meditation.' Alternatively, treat yourself to a spa session and consciously meditate on the symbolic shedding of skin.

  • If you find yourself resistant to someone close who is undergoing a transformation, contemplate whether it's time to allow them to shed their skin. Reflect on how you can be more supportive, even if that involves letting go. Remember, support doesn't always require words; we can block or support each other's energy non-verbally.

ACTION - REFRAME

  • Shift your focus to an area of your skin where you've been critical. Allow your focus to linger as you reflect on the gifts your skin provides—it serves as the container for all other aspects of your physical form and aids in toxin elimination through the pores. Express gratitude by saying or thinking 'thank you' to your skin. Recognize that every part of your skin is essential in holding you together. Reframe any self-critical thoughts into a lens of gratitude, acknowledging that your skin holds the mystery of who you are.
