Day 9 | Adulting Your Way to Good Health
I’m sitting here with my to-do list next to me.
You know the one… the note that’s been carried over for months:
• Find a dermatologist
• Call for your mammogram appointment
Okay. Kill me now. 😅
I feel like I need to channel my inner Daphne and Scooby Doo my way through all of this.
Did I mention I’m also getting two crowns today?
Here’s the truth:
We can stay stagnant in the flow of life, but once we do the thing, we realize that not doing the thing is actually more depleting than doing the thing.
This is straight-up adulting.
So today’s Call to Action —
Mine, and now yours — is to handle that lurking appointment, that overdue bill, that thing you’ve been quietly avoiding. Do it.
Yes, I know…
“But I have to call the insurance company…”
“But it’s going to be annoying…”
“But I don’t want to…”
Same.
And also: I fully believe we should get red carpet applause and awards for surviving insurance calls. Those require stamina. 😆
Pro tip: call when you can multitask while on hold, and absolutely give yourself a reward afterward.
If your dentist told you to see a periodontist — do not ignore this.
They are trying to help you save your teeth long-term. When we’re young and feel healthy, it’s easy to brush these things off.
Your Yoga Mama is here… sharing from experience. These things matter.
With a few persistent calls, I had a $1,000 colonoscopy bill resolved.
By putting off perio, I now have 80% bone loss in some areas of my teeth.
And now? I take loving, attentive, adulting action.
I’ve done a deep dive into perio and have been told it’s very possible I could outlive the bone loss without losing my teeth.
Now that feels like a win worth fighting for.
This is not about extending lifespan.
This is about improving healthspan — the quality of your life.
I love you.
Now go do the thing.
Keep going,
🤍 Alex
